About Abhaya

Native Medicare Charitable Trust (NMCT) with the support from Karl Kuebel Stiftung (KKS) and Anna Schmidt School, Germany has established Abhaya Students Shelter (ASS) in 2008. The remaining vision has been to support, bring up and educate helpless girl children to make them self reliant.
ASS is located in Kalappanaickenpalayam village near Kanuvai in Coimbatore district. The home was started initially with 15 orphaned / semi orphaned girl children.

“Self-reliance of the vulnerable girl child”

“To provide protected care, education and health life for a sustained living of abandoned girls”

The shelter currently supports 24 girls who have been orphaned by HIV/ADS and children who have been neglected, poor and downtrodden.
It is the mission of assisting families in need by providing a safe home like setting for the destitute children until they are reunited with their families. They grow up in the home from the primary school stage to the X or XII standard, till they join the professional courses or get married. The shelter therefore, nurtures them at its cost till they are finally settled.
